Self Storage for Furniture
Keeping your furniture safe and protected in storage
There are many reasons why you may want to store your furniture. You may have downsized but are not ready to sell or donate your furniture. You may have inherited precious heirlooms from a family member that you don’t currently have space for. Or perhaps you are using it for short-term storage for your university-going child.
Call us on 083 230 0276 with your self storage requirements or make use of the contact page on the left of the screen.
Whatever your reasons, you will need to make sure you are storing your furniture safely so it doesn’t get damaged. Here are top three tips to protect your furniture while it is in self-storage.
Research your self storage options
There are different types of storage options, and different storage companies. Choosing the best storage for your needs is the most important first step. You want your furniture to be safe – both from theft and the elements. Gregory Storage, for example, has palisade fencing and a full time security guard. You will also get your own key. Our storage units are also located within a warehouse, providing extra protection to keep your furniture dry and safe.
Clean and prepare your furniture
If you store your furniture while it is dirty, it will only be harder to clean when you take it out (and potentially even be damaged). Don’t leave it at just the wood and plastic items – clean the fabric items too (cushions and couches).
Dissasemble your furniture before storing
If possible, take apart the pieces that can be taken apart before putting it in cheap self storage – for example beds, bookshelves and tables. This will make it easier to pack your items. It will also take up less space (and will end up being cheaper for you). The screws and bolts that come from the furniture can be put in a ziploc bag. Remember to label everything otherwise it will be a guessing game when you are ready to put everything back together.
